Dear Colleagues and Friends, As we move through the final quarter of 2025, I would like to reflect on some of the key developments shaping our work at the International Fragrance Association — and invite you to engage with what’s ahead. First and foremost, I am delighted to share that the Global Fragrance Summit 2025 – Scent Connections, held in Singapore in October, was a great success. With over 150 in-person participants and more than 30 joining online, the event provided a unique forum for the global fragrance community to come together and explore the opportunities and challenges of our sector. The Summit focused on fragrance standards, sustainability, and innovation, with a special emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region. It was a pleasure to hear perspectives from regulators, scientists, industry leaders and perfumers, and I wish to thank all those who contributed to the program and made the event possible. Although we cannot provide the final date yet, the next Global Fragrance Summit will take place in the first quarter of 2027, most likely in India. While we celebrate the success of that global gathering, we remain deeply engaged on several regulatory fronts. In Europe, the Council’s recent General Approach on the Chemicals Omnibus VI Regulation has raised serious concerns for our industry. Despite progress, the proposed legislation continues to pose risks of excessive administrative burden, undermining the flexibility and efficiency that are vital to fragrance innovation. IFRA has contributed actively to the discussion, and we continue to urge policymakers to ensure that new frameworks are science-based, proportionate, and workable across the fragrance value chain. IFRA has worked closely with partner organizations across the value chain, including Cosmetics Europe and the Value of Beauty campaign. This cooperation has helped reinforce stakeholders’ understanding of industry’s needs in this file, particularly on alternative assessment, feasibility and timelines. One area where IFRA is advancing clarity and collaboration is through its safe use program. On 13 November, we will host another public webinar on IFRA’s revised policy on furocoumarins, offering an opportunity to explain the scientific rationale behind the updated thresholds and provide practical guidance on implementation. I strongly encourage all members and stakeholders to attend this is a key milestone in our continued efforts to ensure product safety based on robust science and stakeholder engagement. We also continue to strengthen our global partnerships. In China, our Asia-Pacific team engaged with CAFFCI to reinforce collaboration and alignment on industry standards and sustainability goals. In Latin America, IFRA was proud to join the VII Supplier’s Day in Lima and to continue supporting the regional rollout of the IFRA-IOFI Sustainability Charter, which also welcomed new signatories this past month, including several from China and India. The expansion of the Charter reflects growing industry commitment to sustainable practices and responsible innovation across the world. On a personal note, today marks exactly one year since I joined IFRA as President of the Association. I have been struck by the sincere engagement of the fragrance community and by the commitment of the industry to shared goals, such as on safety and sustainability. At this milestone, I particularly want to thank the IFRA team for welcoming me and for their dedication to the smooth transition within the organization. I further acknowledge - and am most grateful for - the unwavering support of, and expertise provided by, our members who, building upon our global network of stakeholders, are helping drive IFRA towards success in its strategic goals.
