With Simplification and Competitiveness high on the EU agenda for the 2024–2029 mandate, the European Commission is preparing an Omnibus proposal on chemicals, a cross-cutting legislative initiative that will introduce targeted changes to several regulations, including the CLP and Cosmetics Regulations. The proposal is expected to be published on 8 July.
In anticipation, the Commission convened two "reality check" workshops to gather industry input on simplification needs. IFRA actively took part in both sessions and submitted written contributions with concrete proposals under both regulatory frameworks. These inputs were also shared with national competent authorities, with the active support of our European National Associations to ensure wider policy resonance.
Once published, the Omnibus proposal will move to the European Parliament and Council for negotiation under the ordinary legislative procedure.
