IFRA strengthens collaboration with Mexico’s fragrance sector during high-level visit to Mexico City

Last week (November 2025), IFRA President Alexander Mohr and LATAM Regional Manager Eduardo Valle carried out a series of strategic engagements in Mexico City, supported by IFRA’s national association partner ANFPA. The visit reinforced IFRA’s commitment to advancing cooperation, regulatory alignment, and shared innovation across Latin America’s fragrance value chain.

The programme brought together authorities, fragrance houses, academia and industry partners for a week of productive discussions. Meetings with local stakeholders focused on strengthening collaboration and exchanging perspectives on the evolving regulatory landscape in the region.

As part of the agenda, the IFRA team conducted site visits to the Mexican subsidiaries of Givaudan and Mane, as well as Sodexim. These visits provided first-hand insights into industry priorities, market expectations and emerging opportunities within Mexico’s vibrant fragrance and flavour sector.

The visit also coincided with ANFPA’s 2025 General Assembly and End-of-Year Dinner. At the gathering, IFRA joined Mexico’s fragrance and flavours community in celebrating a year marked by progress and resilience. Opening remarks included interventions from IFRA President Alexander Mohr and Andrea Genoveva Solano Rendón, representing Mexico’s Secretariat of Economy.

A particular highlight of the week was the Dialogue on the Fragrance Industry hosted by UDLAP in Mexico City on Friday, November 30. During the event, Eduardo Valle presented an introduction to IFRA and an overview of the LATAM fragrance landscape. Alexander Mohr delivered a keynote address, “Regulatory changes: how new EU rules are shaping global markets,” which sparked dynamic discussion among students, perfumers, members and partners, including AMVD.

IFRA expresses its sincere thanks to all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the visit. Special appreciation goes to the ANFPA team — José Antonio Velázquez de la Madrid and Amparo Huerta — and the ANFPA Board, chaired by Mario González, for their exceptional support and partnership.

IFRA looks forward to continued collaboration with partners across Mexico and the wider LATAM region in support of a safe, sustainable and innovative global fragrance industry.
