For AVO the MACs are in line with the current IFRA Standard and the regulatory entry marks the successful end of the fragrance industries ingredient long term defence activity on this material. In the process not only toxicological data and detailed material characterization information were shared with the authorities, but also a NAM approached for the assessment of potential inhalation irritation effects was identified and applied.
The regulatory entry for Citral is a tremendous step forward in the regulatory acceptance of the updated Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) developed under project IDEA, which industry uses in deriving MACs for the endpoint of skin sensitization as you will find in the IFRA Standards and underlying RIFM Safety assessments.
