IFRA has a growing presence in India, a key hub for fragrance ingredients, with 10 supporting members and a dedicated India Taskforce.

A major global supplier with deep regional fragrance traditions.

India has a long and storied relationship with fragrance. From the distillation of attars in Kannauj to the rituals of incense and essential oils, scent is deeply woven into daily life, wellness, and tradition.

IFRA has a dedicated India Taskforce comprising representatives from IFRA Supporting Member companies from India, as well as an office in New Delhi.

India’s role in the global fragrance map

A rich source of natural ingredients

The country is a vital source of natural ingredients, including jasmine, sandalwood, mint, patchouli, and lemongrass — many of which are valued across the world. India also has a vibrant domestic market for perfumes, cosmetics, and home care products, shaped by both ancient heritage and modern trends.

As interest grows in sustainable sourcing and safe product use, India’s role in the global fragrance landscape is evolving.

With its unique blend of craftsmanship, biodiversity, and innovation, India continues to contribute to the story of fragrance worldwide.

India also boasts a domestic market growth for perfumes, cosmetics, and home care products — shaped by centuries of olfactory heritage and growing modern consumer trends.
