IFRA’s National Association in Brazil, ABIFRA, announces that its Regulatory Affairs Manager, Maria Augusta Costa, has been elected as Principal Representative of the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) to the National Commission on Chemical Safety (CONASQ) for the 2026–2028 term. She received 29 votes in the Private Sector Organizations category. Re-established by Decree No. 11,686/2023, CONASQ operates under Brazil’s Ministry of the Environment as a strategic forum bringing together government, civil society, academia, and industry stakeholders.
CONASQ plays a key role in shaping policies, standards, and guidelines for the sound management of chemical substances in Brazil, ensuring alignment with international conventions and agreements. The inauguration of elected members is scheduled for the Commission’s 8th ordinary meeting on August 12, 2026, in Brasília.
IFRA and ABIFRA celebrate this achievement as a recognition of the technical expertise and constructive engagement of the private sector in advancing chemical safety. The associations also congratulate Ms. Costa on her appointment, acknowledging her valuable contributions over the past years to regulatory discussions and CONASQ-related activities.
