Bel­gium has added ter­pinyl ace­ta­te mul­ti to the EU Registry of Inten­tions, sig­na­lling plans to sub­mit a har­mo­ni­sed clas­si­fi­ca­tion and labe­lling (CLH) dos­sier for the subs­tan­ce by 31 Decem­ber 2027.

Brus­sels, 24 March 2026 – In recent months, Euro­pean con­su­mers and policy­ma­kers have been increa­singly expo­sed to mis­lea­ding and inac­cu­ra­te claims regar­ding the safety of cos­me­tic and fra­gran­ce pro­ducts and their futu­re regu­la­tion. The­se inclu­de asser­tions that the Omni­bus VI revi­sion would relax safety rules for car­ci­no­ge­nic subs­tan­ces, lower safety stan­dards through regu­la­tory sim­pli­fi­ca­tion, or that cos­me­tic pro­ducts pose sig­ni­fi­cant health risks. Such claims are unfoun­ded. Their gro­wing volu­me risks under­mi­ning infor­med policy­ma­king and public trust.

The EU ​“One Subs­tan­ce One Assess­ment” (OSOA) pac­ka­ge was published in the Offi­cial Jour­nal on 12 Decem­ber 2025 and ente­red into for­ce on 1 January 2026.
