IFRA convenes member company leadership in Shanghai

The International Fragrance Association (IFRA) brought together leadership from its Asia Pacific region and from IFRA member companies across Greater China and North Asia for a working session in Shanghai, China, on 16 September 2026. Those taking part included Caroline Li, Regional Director, Asia Pacific at IFRA.

Natalie Obermann, VP of Global Strategies at the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC), opened the discussion with a presentation on trade relations between the United States and Asia. Ms Obermann set out how the regulatory and market landscape is evolving, and what those shifts mean for companies operating across the region.

IFRA President Alexander Mohr followed with an update on IFRA's global strategy. Mr Mohr outlined the association's priorities across the fragrance value chain, reinforcing IFRA's commitment to safety, sustainability, and standards.

Participants used the remainder of the session to exchange views on the regional outlook and on the practical implications of a shifting trade environment for the fragrance industry.

Sustained dialogue between IFRA and international trade bodies such as PCPC remains essential to supporting industry growth, regulatory alignment, and innovation. IFRA thanks all those who took part in the discussion.
