It is with pro­found sad­ness that IFRA announ­ces the pas­sing of Pro­fes­sor Eme­ri­tus James (Jim) Wil­fred Brid­ges, who died at home on 10 April.

In early April, IFRA met with the Ger­man Fede­ral Ministry for Eco­no­mic Coope­ra­tion and Deve­lop­ment (BMZ) and the Ger­man Agency for Inter­na­tio­nal Coope­ra­tion (GIZ) to review one of its long-term sus­tai­na­bi­lity pro­jects, cen­tred on Buchu.

Gene­va, 15 April 2026 – The Inter­na­tio­nal Fra­gran­ce Asso­cia­tion (IFRA) has announ­ced that Michael Frie­de, Pre­si­dent Scent & Care and Mem­ber of the Execu­ti­ve Board of Sym­ri­se AG, has joi­ned the IFRA Board, repre­sen­ting Sym­ri­se. He suc­ceeds Claus Oli­ver Sch­midt in this role.

Brus­sels, 15 April 2026 – The Omni­bus VI pro­po­sal upda­ting the rules for cos­me­tic pro­ducts has taken a key step, with Mem­bers of the Euro­pean Par­lia­ment agreeing today on a way for­ward. The chan­ges voted on by the Euro­pean Parliament’s com­mit­tees uphold the highest safety stan­dards for con­su­mer cos­me­tic pro­ducts whilst aiming to redu­ce admi­nis­tra­ti­ve bur­dens and boost competitiveness.

The Inter­na­tio­nal Fra­gran­ce Asso­cia­tion (IFRA) was plea­sed to par­ti­ci­pa­te in Paris Per­fu­me Week, orga­ni­sed by Nez, le mou­ve­ment cul­tu­rel olfac­tif, joi­ning a panel dis­cus­sion dedi­ca­ted to the key regu­la­tory cha­llen­ges sha­ping the fra­gran­ce sec­tor in Europe.

In March, IFRA’s Vice-Pre­si­dent also joi­ned SAAFFI’s Annual Seminar.

Access and Bene­fit Sha­ring under the Nago­ya Pro­to­col remains a key prio­rity for IFRA. This work is sup­por­ted through a dedi­ca­ted joint Task For­ce with IOFI, focu­sed on prac­ti­cal imple­men­ta­tion and sec­tor-wide approaches.

Bel­gium has added ter­pinyl ace­ta­te mul­ti to the EU Registry of Inten­tions, sig­na­lling plans to sub­mit a har­mo­ni­sed clas­si­fi­ca­tion and labe­lling (CLH) dos­sier for the subs­tan­ce by 31 Decem­ber 2027.
