IFRA published an opi­nion in EU news outlet Eurac­tiv urging a scien­ce-based, wor­ka­ble approach to the EU’s Che­mi­cals Omni­bus pro­po­sal to safe­guard fra­gran­ce-sec­tor inno­va­tion and con­su­mer confidence.

IFRA has joi­ned the Euro­pean Commission’s Cri­ti­cal Che­mi­cals Allian­ce to sup­port a coor­di­na­ted approach to safe­guar­ding essen­tial chemicals.

Gene­va, 12 Decem­ber 2025 – The Inter­na­tio­nal Fra­gran­ce Asso­cia­tion (IFRA) has ope­ned the public con­sul­ta­tion on the latest upda­te to its safe use pro­gram, the IFRA Stan­dards – the fra­gran­ce industry’s risk-based pro­duct ste­wardship sys­tem. The con­sul­ta­tion, focu­sed on the 52^nd Amend­ment to the IFRA Stan­dards, is now under­way and will remain open until 12 June 2026.

IFRA’s Direc­tor for Euro­pe, Auré­lie Perri­chet, high­lights a cri­ti­cal moment for the futu­re of safe and crea­ti­ve fra­gran­ce in Euro­pe as dis­cus­sions advan­ce on the Che­mi­cals Omnibus.

The truth is sim­ple: fra­gran­ce safety is not left to chan­ce. It is built into the rules, the tes­ting, the assess­ments and the peo­ple who­se job it is to make sure fra­gran­ced pro­ducts are safe to use every day.

A gro­wing num­ber of regions are enga­ging in open, scien­ce-based dis­cus­sions on fra­gran­ce ingredients.

Last week (Novem­ber 2025), IFRA Pre­si­dent Ale­xan­der Mohr and LATAM Regio­nal Mana­ger Eduar­do Valle carried out a series of stra­te­gic enga­ge­ments in Mexi­co City, sup­por­ted by IFRA’s natio­nal asso­cia­tion part­ner ANF­PA. The visit rein­for­ced IFRA’s com­mit­ment to advan­cing coope­ra­tion, regu­la­tory align­ment, and sha­red inno­va­tion across Latin America’s fra­gran­ce value chain.

IFRA is plea­sed to sha­re that Ana Pau­la Men­do­nça, Pre­si­dent of Scent at IFF, has been elec­ted Vice-Chair of the IFRA Board.

IFRA and the Inter­na­tio­nal Society of Per­fu­mer-Crea­tors (ISPC) took part in a cons­truc­ti­ve exchan­ge with Euro­pean Com­mis­sion offi­cials and Mem­ber Sta­tes on 21 Novem­ber at the mee­ting of the Cos­me­tics Pro­ducts Wor­king Group (CPWG) in Brussels.

Last week, the IFRA team took part in the CTFAS Regu­la­tory Forum ear­lier this week, joi­ning regu­la­tors, industry lea­ders and tech­ni­cal spe­cia­lists for a full day focu­sed on the futu­re of cos­me­tics, per­so­nal care and well­ness regu­la­tion across Asia.

This year marks the 20^th anni­ver­sary of the Euro­pean Part­nership for Alter­na­ti­ve Approa­ches to Ani­mal Tes­ting (EPAA). Its Annual Con­fe­ren­ce this year was a sig­ni­fi­cant miles­to­ne in pro­mo­ting inno­va­ti­ve, huma­ne, and scien­ti­fi­cally robust alter­na­ti­ves to ani­mal tes­ting for regu­la­tory scien­ce. IFRA was proud to par­ti­ci­pa­te in the events, con­tri­bu­ting to dis­cus­sions that sha­pe the futu­re of scien­ce-dri­ven and sus­tai­na­ble safety assessments.
