Speaking on behalf of the International Fragrance Association (IFRA), Matthias Vey, Vice President, Scientific Affairs, will deliver the session 'Fragrance safety unpacked: IFRA and the 52nd Amendment' at the Western Cape Seminar 2026 of the South African Association of the Flavour & Fragrance Industry (SAAFFI) on 28 October 2026. Dr Vey will connect remotely from Brussels, Belgium, to address members of the South African flavor and fragrance industry.

In his presentation, Dr Vey will explain how the IFRA Standards underpin the safe use of fragrance ingredients, walk participants through the main changes brought by the 52nd Amendment, and highlight the practical implications for companies supplying fragranced products in South Africa and beyond.

The session comes at an important stage in the amendment process. Following a six-month consultation that closed on 12 June 2026, IFRA issued its End of Consultation Letter on 31 August 2026, with the Notification of the final Standards planned for January 2027.

Further details about SAAFFI and its work can be found on the association's website.
