On 5 November 2026, the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) presented the risk-based product safety framework behind the IFRA Standards at the 3rd China Perfumer Congress in Guangzhou, China, hosted by the China Association of Fragrance Flavor and Cosmetic Industries (CAFFCI).

Leon Huang, Senior Advisor, Asia North at IFRA, presented 'IFRA Standards: risk-based product safety standards' to perfumers, researchers, brand representatives and supply-chain partners at the Baiyun International Conference Center.

The congress has grown quickly since its first edition in Shanghai in November 2024, which set out to give Chinese perfumery a platform and a voice. This year's program added scent experience zones and a science communication forum alongside the national perfumer skills competition.

"Creativity and safety are not in competition", Mr Huang said. "The Standards are what allow a creation to travel from the bench to the shelf, in China and internationally, with confidence."

IFRA thanks CAFFCI for the invitation and looks forward to continuing the dialogue with China's perfumery community.
