IFRA webinar highlights the role of the Standards in risk-based product stewardship

On 25 March 2026 the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) hosted a webinar exploring the role of the IFRA Standards in supporting risk-based product stewardship across the fragrance industry.

The session provided an overview of the IFRA Standards, which form the foundation of the industry’s safety framework. Built on a science-based and risk assessment-driven approach, the Standards help ensure the safe use of fragrance ingredients worldwide.

Speakers outlined how the IFRA Standards system operates in practice, including its principles, governance and application across the fragrance value chain. The webinar also presented key updates introduced in the 52nd Amendment, and discussed their implications for industry stakeholders.

Alexander Mohr, PhD, President, IFRA, opened the session with introductory remarks. Bhuvana Nageshwaran, Director F&F at Ultra International and IFRA Board participant, provided perspectives on the relevance of the IFRA Standards in the Indian context.

Jennifer Dorts, Senior Manager, Scientific & Regulatory Affairs at IFRA, presented the core principles and governance of the IFRA Standards system. Matthias Vey, Vice President, Scientific Affairs at IFRA, focused on how risk assessment is applied in practice.

The webinar was open to all interested stakeholders, with a particular focus on audiences in India. It concluded with a live Q&A session moderated by IFRA.
