The International Fragrance Association (IFRA) took part in the Next in Fragrance Conference at Beautyworld Dubai, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 6 to 8 October 2026.
Alexander Mohr, President of IFRA, spoke on the panel 'The Rules of Responsible Fragrance: Regulations, Ethics & the Planet' on Wednesday, 7 October 2026. Mr Mohr was joined by Abdulla Ajmal, Chief Executive Officer of Ajmal Group, and Kareema Toutounji, Founder of the Oud Grading Institute. The session was moderated by Valerie Lovisa, global perfumery expert and educator.
The panel looked at how the fragrance industry can navigate regulations, ethics and sustainability, and turn compliance into a brand strength. Changing regulations, harmonization and environmental impact are reshaping how fragrance is created and brought to market. For IFRA, what ties these together is trust: safety grounded in science through the IFRA Standards, responsible sourcing of ingredients, and an industry that talks openly with regulators, partners and consumers.
Few places suit that conversation better than the Middle East, home to one of the world's richest fragrance traditions.
IFRA thanks the Beautyworld Dubai team and its fellow panelists for the valuable discussion.
