Matthias Vey, Vice President, Scientific Affairs at IFRA, and Jennifer Dorts, Senior Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Manager at IFRA, will give a joint presentation titled ‘IFRA update: The 52nd Amendment and our perspective on managing fragrance allergens’. It forms part of a session on emerging regulatory risks and ingredient compliance, followed by a live question-and-answer session.
Dr Dorts will give an overview of the IFRA Standards, the risk-based product stewardship framework in the fragrance industry, and the key developments introduced through the 52nd Amendment. Dr Vey will cover the industry’s work on skin sensitization from a risk assessment point of view, and the risk management options under consideration.
The timing is apt. The consultation on the 52nd Amendment ran from 12 December 2025 to 12 June 2026, and IFRA published its End of Consultation Letter on 31 August 2026. The formal Notification of the final Standards is expected in January 2027.
The one-day conference brings together regulatory, product safety and scientific affairs professionals to examine legislative developments on chemicals management and restrictions in cosmetics worldwide. Other speakers include representatives of the European Commission, Cosmetics Europe and the European Federation for Cosmetic Ingredients.
More information on the program and registration is available on the Chemical Watch website.
