IFRA Amendment 52 in Focus: ANFPA Article in Perfumería Moderna Highlights the Road Ahead

The National Association of Manufacturers of Aromatic Products (ANFPA), IFRA’s member association in Mexico, has published a detailed feature on IFRA Amendment 52 in Perfumería Moderna, one of Latin America’s foremost trade publications for the fragrance and cosmetics industry.

The article examines the amendment's scope and its practical implications for fragrance manufacturers, cosmetics producers, and the broader personal care value chain – offering regional industry professionals a timely and accessible overview of what lies ahead.

IFRA Amendment 52 represents a substantive evolution of IFRA's science-based self-regulatory framework. Following a six-month consultation phase that began in December 2025, the amendment is expected to be published by late 2026. It is anticipated to introduce 51 new Restriction Standards, 18 revisions to existing Standards, and a consolidated revision of the IFRA Furocoumarins Policy — all grounded in advances in analytical methods, updated scientific risk assessment, and strengthened consumer safety thresholds.

Reaching Latin American audiences through a publication of Perfumería Moderna's standing underscores the importance of industry awareness and preparedness as the amendment moves toward implementation. IFRA encourages fragrance manufacturers, cosmetics companies, and value chain partners across the region to review their portfolios, engage with the consultation process, and begin planning their transition well ahead of the final publication date.
