This new phase underscores IFRA’s ongoing commitment to safety, transparency, and scientific rigor. IFRA invites all interested stakeholders to review the proposed updates and provide feedback that will help shape the next evolution of the global fragrance stewardship framework.
“The IFRA Standards are central to ensuring the safe and responsible use of fragrance ingredients worldwide,” said Jennifer Dorts, Senior Manager of Scientific Affairs, IFRA. “By opening this consultation, we reaffirm our dedication to scientific integrity and stakeholder engagement. We encourage everyone with an interest in fragrance safety to review the proposed changes and share their insights.”
The consultation package includes:
- Updated Guidance for the Use of IFRA Standards, including the Standard Operating Procedure for the 52nd Amendment.
- The full set of individual IFRA Standards referenced in the Consultation Letter.
- A detailed annex compiling contributions from other sources, including information on presence in natural ingredients and Schiff bases.
All consultation materials are available via IFRA’s internal SharePoint. Stakeholders may also contact IFRA’s Scientific Team for further information.

Acerca de la Asociación Internacional de Fragancias (IFRA)
La Asociación Internacional de Fragancias, fundada en 1973, representa los intereses de la industria de las fragancias en todo el mundo. La IFRA está compuesta por siete miembros regulares multinacionales y 23 asociaciones nacionales en cuatro regiones del mundo que representan a cientos de pequeños y medianos fabricantes de ingredientes de fragancias, así como a miembros de apoyo. Las fragancias son una tecnología clave utilizada por las empresas de bienes de consumo para perfumes, productos de cuidado personal y cosméticos, productos de limpieza del hogar y mucho más.
El programa insignia de IFRA para el uso seguro, las Normas IFRA, aplica medidas de gestión de la seguridad basadas en evaluaciones científicas y en las valoraciones de un panel de expertos independientes. El programa es el núcleo del Código de prácticas de IFRA, que se aplica a todos los miembros de IFRA a nivel mundial, incluidos los miembros de las asociaciones nacionales de IFRA. El Código también exige a los miembros que cumplan la normativa local, nacional e internacional, y que apliquen buenas prácticas de fabricación.
