IFRA’s Direc­tor for Euro­pe, Auré­lie Perri­chet, high­lights a cri­ti­cal moment for the futu­re of safe and crea­ti­ve fra­gran­ce in Euro­pe as dis­cus­sions advan­ce on the Che­mi­cals Omnibus.

A gro­wing num­ber of regions are enga­ging in open, scien­ce-based dis­cus­sions on fra­gran­ce ingredients.

Last week (Novem­ber 2025), IFRA Pre­si­dent Ale­xan­der Mohr and LATAM Regio­nal Mana­ger Eduar­do Valle carried out a series of stra­te­gic enga­ge­ments in Mexi­co City, sup­por­ted by IFRA’s natio­nal asso­cia­tion part­ner ANF­PA. The visit rein­for­ced IFRA’s com­mit­ment to advan­cing coope­ra­tion, regu­la­tory align­ment, and sha­red inno­va­tion across Latin America’s fra­gran­ce value chain.

IFRA and the Inter­na­tio­nal Society of Per­fu­mer-Crea­tors (ISPC) took part in a cons­truc­ti­ve exchan­ge with Euro­pean Com­mis­sion offi­cials and Mem­ber Sta­tes on 21 Novem­ber at the mee­ting of the Cos­me­tics Pro­ducts Wor­king Group (CPWG) in Brussels.

Brus­sels, 6 Novem­ber 2025 – The Euro­pean Council’s Gene­ral Approach on the Che­mi­cals Omni­bus (Omni­bus VI) Regu­la­tion has mis­sed the chan­ce to sim­plify pro­vi­sions of the Cos­me­tics Pro­ducts Regu­la­tion and tac­kle long-las­ting com­pe­ti­ti­ve­ness hurd­les iden­ti­fied by the industry whi­le main­tai­ning the highest con­su­mer safety stan­dards. This out­co­me risks undoing pro­gress towards a clea­rer and more pre­dic­ta­ble sys­tem. The cos­me­tics, fra­gran­ce and essen­tial oil indus­tries are deeply con­cer­ned by this outcome.

IFRA sup­ports the reform of the Euro­pean Che­mi­cals Agency (ECHA) whi­le empha­si­zing the impor­tan­ce of main­tai­ning inde­pen­dent and expert advi­ce on cos­me­tics safety.

IFRA con­tri­bu­ted to the Euro­pean Commission’s con­sul­ta­tion on the revi­sed Safe and Sus­tai­na­ble by Design (SSbD) fra­me­work, empha­si­zing the need for cla­rity and prac­ti­ca­lity for com­plex ingre­dients such as fragrances.

Coun­cil nego­tia­tions advan­ce, but key con­cerns remain for the sector.

Sin­ga­po­re, 15 Octo­ber 2025 – The Inter­na­tio­nal Fra­gran­ce Asso­cia­tion (IFRA) ope­ned the Glo­bal Fra­gran­ce Sum­mit 2025 in Sin­ga­po­re today. The two-day mee­ting brings regu­la­tors, scien­tists and industry lea­ders together under the the­me Scent con­nec­tions – advan­cing stan­dards and colla­bo­ra­tion across cul­tu­res. The pro­gram on day one focu­sed on glo­bal stan­dards, ingre­dient defen­se, regu­la­tory align­ment and a spe­ci­fic look at the Asia-Paci­fic context.

In just one week, fra­gran­ce lea­ders, scien­tists, and regu­la­tors from across the world will con­ve­ne in Sin­ga­po­re for the IFRA Glo­bal Fra­gran­ce Sum­mit 2025, taking pla­ce on 15 – 16 Octo­ber at the Fair­mont Singapore.
