Brussels, 17 June 2026 – The cosmetics, fragrance and essential oils industries welcome the provisional interinstitutional agreement reached today on the Omnibus VI proposal.

The recent incorporation of maximum acceptable concentrations (MAC) for AVO (Acetylated Vetiver Oil) and Citral in the Annex III of the EU Cosmetic Regulation represent important achievements in IFRA’s ongoing engagement in ingredient defence.

Representing IFRA, Dr. Caroline Li participated in a recent meeting of the RAIN Asia Working Group, a platform bringing together leading international chemical industry associations, including the American chemistry Council (ACC), chemical industry association of Canada, CEFIC, SCIC ( Singapore chemical industry Council), among others, to discuss regulatory developments across Asia.The meeting focused on recent developments in chemical regulations and the associated challenges facing the industry and global value chains. Particular attention was given to the implementation of new chemical regulations in Asia Pacific countries including Vietnam, which industry are actively working with local stake holders regarding clarity, practicality, and implementation details.

Peru published on April 8 Supreme Decree No. 005‑2026-MINAM, which approves the Regulation of Legislative Decree No. 1570, the Legislative Decree that enacts the Law on the Comprehensive Management of Chemical Substances.

Brussels, 29 April 2026 – Cosmetics Europe and the International Fragrance Association welcome the swift adoption of the European Parliament’s report on Omnibus VI at today’s plenary session in Strasbourg. Over recent months, the European Parliament has thoroughly examined the European Commission’s proposal to reduce administrative burdens, and boost competitiveness, with detailed scrutiny of the consumer safety provisions, which remain robust.

Recently, a delegation from the China Working Group (CWG) of the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) paid a working visit to the Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences (NIES) under the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE).

The International Fragrance Association recently joined a joint industry effort led by Singapore Chemical Industry Council (SCIC), the national body that coordinates policy advocacy on behalf of the chemical sector there.

The changes voted on by the European Parliament’s committees uphold the highest safety standards for consumer cosmetic products whilst aiming to reduce administrative burdens and boost competitiveness.

Belgium has added terpinyl acetate multi to the EU Registry of Intentions, signalling plans to submit a harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) dossier for the substance by 31 December 2027.
